In 1894, Daniel Harry Merritt founded D.H. Merritt & Sons Building Materials at 827 South 26th Street in Lincoln. For well over a century, the Merritt family supplied the concrete, rock, sand, and stone that helped build the city — from the same corner we still work from today.
In 2021, Whitehead Oil Company — a family-owned Lincoln business founded in 1959, and the company behind Lincoln’s U-Stop stores — acquired Merritt and set out to modernize it. They invested in a fleet of CemenTech volumetric mixing trucks and put trained, ACI-certified crews behind them.
The result is old-fashioned service with modern equipment: fresh concrete mixed on-site, metered by the yard, and finished by our own crew. A name Lincoln has trusted for generations — carried into the next hundred years.
